Self Publishing

Kelley Beebe and I had a wonderful conversation yesterday with Bob Bauer, author of the book, "Rediscovering God's Gift of a Lifetime." He gave me some great insight into self publishing and his own adventures with his book and marketing, etc. It was very encouraging and I intend to work on better marketing for my plays and books. Bob said that if you do choose to self publish and can document sales of 1,000 books, then you are better able to catch the eye of a larger publisher and agents. So we will see how that goes.

If I can find a way to get more solid covers printed from my desktop, I can probably hand-bind a first run of my novel. That would be a lot of work, but would save me a lot of up-front printing costs and keep the sticker price of the novel down. I'll also look into creating my own booklet versions of the plays rather than publishing through Lulu. I ought to be able to do that with a long-neck stapler, so we'll see. Making them available online as PDFs for purchase through Paypal is also an option.

Good times, good times.
