Now that the Haunt is over, it's time to get back to my house. I'm not a fan of yardwork. I know people who are, who really take pleasure in making their yard beautiful. I think that if I didn't have a regular, full-time job, I would also take more pleasure in it. But right now, it's just a big ol' chore.
But I'm learning. I did some yesterday. I'll do some today--rose bush pruning. I used to do a massive amount of yard work all in one day to try to get it all done. I think when I break it up, do a bit today, a bit tomorrow, it's easier and more enjoyable.
Homemaking is the same way. I want to enjoy it, rather than dread it. I love having an organized house, but, dang, that takes a lot of work! It's good, though. Healthy. Like heirloom vegetables.
Hey, if you haven't read "Animal, Vegetable, Miracle," by Barbara Kingsolver, go borrow it from the library asap. It's a great book about getting a food culture back into our lives. Really well, written, fun and interesting.
